The central idea

Bali Pulendran’s review presents vaccination as a controlled way to study human immunity. Multi-omics can connect baseline immune states and early responses to the strength and persistence of later immunity. Translating these insights into clinical practice remains a challenge.

Questions for FengLab

Through the lens of \(y_i=f_i(x)\), this suggests questions for discussion:

  • Which measurements of \(x\) help distinguish an individual’s response from a population average?
  • How should \(y_i\) represent both response magnitude and durability?
  • What prospective experiment would test whether an inferred \(f_i\) predicts a new perturbation?

These are our reading questions, not conclusions established by the review.
